Boomhower, Dow and Titus commit to Steelheads
The Mississauga Steelheads are pleased to announce the commitment of forwards Shaw Boomhower, Scoley Dow and Matthew Titus.
A native of Belleville, Ontario, Boomhower spent the 2015-16 season with the OJHL’s Wellington Dukes where he recorded 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 51 games.
The 5’11, 186lb centre was invited to Steelheads training camp as a free agent, where he earned his way onto the Steelheads roster.
“Shaw Boomhower is a player who impressed us with his determination and effort level. He is a player who has really improved since his draft year and we are excited that he has chosen the Steelheads to continue his development,” said Steelheads general manager, James Boyd.
Dow was selected by the Steelheads in the eighth round (160th overall) of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. The Wallbridge, Ontario native spent the 2015-16 season with the Hill Academy U16 Prep Team. Dow now re-joins former teammate Aidan McFarland, as they both played the 2014 – 15 season on Quinte’s Red Devils Minor Midget team.
Boyd describes Dow as “a draft pick who has worked hard to increase his strength and consistency. Scoley is a versatile player who plays an energetic game.“
Matthew Titus is a sixth round selection (103rd overall) of the Steelheads in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.The native of Stittsville, Ontario spent the 2015-16 season with the Kemptville 73’s of the CCHL. In 40 games with the 73’s, Titus recorded 15 points (six goals, nine assists).
“Matthew Titus is a draft pick who played and developed last year in a quality program in Kemptville of the CCHL. Matthew is an energetic skater who competes every shift,” said Boyd.
