Defenceman Deacon Holmes is this week’s Future Fish Friday. Drafted from the Mississauga Senators Minor Midget AAA organization, the left-handed defenceman was selected in the 15th round, 293rd overall in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Draft.

A product of the Mississauga Senators AAA, Holmes recorded seven points (three goals, four assists) as a defenceman during the 2016-17 season. At the 2016-17 OHL Cup, the Port Credit native recorded one goal in five games played. Holmes describes himself as an “aggressive defenceman” adding that his current favourite player is Shea Weber of the Montreal Canadiens.

“I first started skating when I was two years old but I didn’t start playing hockey until I was four years old,” Holmes said when asked about when he started hockey. As for his most memorable hockey moment, “scoring the winning goal in the OHL Cup qualifier game in double overtime.”
