Future Fish Friday: Jake Gravelle

It’s Friday, and that means its time to get to know another Future Fish! Today’s Steelheads prospect is Jake Gravelle who was a 12th round pick for the Steelheads’ in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection (228th overall).

JAKE GRAVELLE

Birthday: 2000-05-01
Height: 6.00
Weight: 165
Shoots: Left
Position: Defenceman
Hometown: North Bay, ON
Previous Team: Minor Midget AAA Don Mills Flyers

Gravelle finished his 2015-16 season with the Minor Midget AAA Don Mills Flyers along with fellow prospect Connor McBroom. Gravelle recorded 35 points (12 goals, 23 assists) in 65 regular season games. His “offensive defenceman” style of play won him the Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) defenceman of the year award for his 2014-15 season with the Bantam AAA North Bay Trappers. He looks up to Erik Karlsson, who continues to inspire him as a player.

When it comes to Gravelle’s style of play, assistant general manager Jan Egert, had this to say, “Jake is the modern-day defenseman that can contribute in all aspects of the game. He is competitive below the dots; has the mobility to contain opponents or skate out of trouble, and possesses a strong first-pass. Jake was one of the most consistent players in the GTHL throughout his Minor Midget Season.”
