Welcome back to Future Fish Fridays! Want to know what our Steelheads prospects are like on and off the ice? Keep reading to learn more about this weeks Future Fish, Nicholas Canade.
Position: Right Wing
Previous Team: Minor Midget AAA Mississauga Rebels
Nicholas Canade, a Mississauga Native, was an 11th round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection (208th overall). Canade comes to the Steelheads as the third of four players drafted from the 2000 Mississauga Rebels dynasty team. His most memorable hockey moment thus far was winning the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) championship seven years in a row. His other accomplishments include being a six-time Kraft Cup winner and a two-time Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Champion.
Nicholas knows exactly the type of forward he needs to be, so we asked him to describe his style of play. He responded: “I play a 200-Foot game and am very fast. I’m not afraid to go into the dirty areas and am willing to do anything for my team. I am skilled and shifty.” Steelheads assistant general manager, Jan Egert, describes Canade’s style of play as, “a player who plays the game with an edge, and is ultra-competitive. He makes you notice him with his agitating style; is a quick player who covers a lot of ice, while having the ability to make plays in tight areas.”
