Matthew Dunsmoor commits to Steelheads

The Mississauga Steelheads are pleased to announce the commitment of goaltender, Matthew Dunsmoor. Dunsmoor, a product of the Guelph Jr. Gryphons, was selected by Mississauga in the eighth round (155th overall) of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.

Dunsmoor appeared in 20 games for the Jr. Gryphons where he recorded a 1.80 goals-against-average, and added three shutouts. The Guelph, Ont., native was the recipient of the 2016-17 South-Central Triple-A Hockey League Player of the Year award and credits his success to his work ethic, a quality he feels sets him apart. “I battle, I never give up on a puck and always do anything I can do to stop it,” said Dunsmoor. Head coach and general manager, James Richmond says Dunsmoor is a welcome addition to the Steelheads’ lineup, adding “we are happy to have Matthew and his family join the Steelheads family. Matthew gives us depth at the goaltending position. We look forward to seeing him at training camp, where he battle as he always does, for a full time spot on this years roster.”

The Steelheads would like to congratulate Matthew on his commitment to the team, and welcome him and the entire Dunsmoor family to the organization.
