The Mississauga Steelheads headed to Lionhead Golf Club and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ont., on Tuesday, June 13th where players, fans, sponsors, and media gathered for the 5th Annual Steelheads’ Golf Classic.
In total, 148 golfers entered the Classic, joining current, former, and future Steelheads personnel. 2017 NHL Draft eligible Steelheads players, Owen Tippett and Nicolas Hague, former Steelheads goaltender Spencer Martin, who is now a part of the Colorado Avalanche, and this year’s OHL Priority Draft picks, Thomas Harley and Keean Washkurak, to name a few, were all present for a round of golf with fans and family.
While Tippett and Hague continue to prepare for the NHL Draft on June 23, they also took this tournament to catch up with their friends and families before their schedule gets busy again.
“It’s a good atmosphere, it’s good to get all the fans together, the guys come in and it’s the first time seeing each other since the season’s end,” Tippett said. “It’s a busy time, I kind of used this as a way to get my mind off things.”
By noontime, every golfer had played for a chance to win prizes from the Steelheads and sponsors as well as a chance to participate in the silent auction that followed.
