Steelheads Home Opener Weekend!

It will be an exciting season of hockey in Mississaugaas the Steelheads prepare for their home opener weekend. The Steelheads will make their first regular season appearance at the Hershey Centre on September 21 against the Kitchener Rangers at 7:30pm and will be back on the ice Sunday, September 23 at the Hershey Centre as they host the Barrie Colts at 2 pm.


The home opener weekend marks an important milestone for the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) inMississauga. The Steelheads and Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion hope to see the local community out to cheer on the Steelheads. As part of the Ceremonial puck drop at the Home Opener, at centre ice Mayor McCallion will join a member of each of the eight Mississauga Hockey League Associations. Canadian recording artist Michael Burgess will sing the national anthem. As a bonus, a special guest will be on hand to help introduce the Steelhead mascot “Sauga” to the fans!!!  


“On behalf of the members of Council, I would like to welcome the Mississauga Steelheads to their inaugural season at the Hershey Centre,” said MayorHazel McCallion. “We recognize the dedication of these young hockey players who will put forth their best efforts this season and hope that Mississauga fans will join me in cheering them to victory over the next several months.”
