After battling thick fog in the first half of action, the Ottawa 67’s and Mississauga Steelheads treated fans on hand in the nation’s capital to quite a game. Ottawa veteran Austen Keating put an end to things 55 seconds into overtime on assists from Tye Felhaber and Mitchell Hoelscher as the Barber Poles took their home opener by a score of 4-3. The two sides swapped goals in a see-saw affair as the Steelheads outshot the 67′ 34-24. Felhaber, Hoelscher and Graeme Clarke also scored for Ottawa while Filip Reisnecker and James Hardie both scored firsts for the Steelheads. Recently acquired forward Richard Whittaker scored his first goal in Mississauga blue. Ottawa netminder Cedrick Andree made 31 saves in the victory.
