MISSISSAUGA, ON – Earlier today, Steelheads General Manager, James Richmond and his staff selected a goaltender, a forward and a defenceman with their three picks in the 4th annual U18 Priority Selection. He comments, “We were able to select three quality players which will make our 2020/21 Training Camp even more interesting.”
In the first round, the Steelheads selected 6’1″ goaltender Cole Moore of the Markham Majors with the 7th overall pick. “Cole Moore is a big, mobile goalie that our scouts really liked this year and believe he has a chance to turn some heads at camp this Fall.” says Richmond.
In round two, the Steelheads selected Nick Dowling of the North Central Predators; a right winger who notched 19 goals and 45 points in 35 games this season. When asked about the club’s second round pick, Richmond comments, “Nick is a winger that we liked in last year’s draft but ran out of picks. He brings speed and a high compete level to the rink every day.”
In the final round, the Steelheads added some depth on the back-end with Adam Barkley from HEO’s Kemptville 73s. The sturdy rearguard registered 31 points in 45 league games last season. Richmond adds, “He’s a right shot defenceman that skates well and defends hard. That’s always a good combination.”
