Teachers Life Academic Spotlight: Ethan Del Mastro

The 12th overall pick in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Ethan Del Mastro, was a fantastic blueliner for the Mississauga Steelheads in his rookie year. Simultaneously, Ethan was studying 11th grade at Philip Pocock Catholic High School.
During the 2019-2020 season, Ethan Del Mastro earned the achievement of Ontario Hockey League Central Divison’s Academic Player of the Month for January. With this achievement, Ethan was recognized for his dedication and commitment to the classroom, scoring an 84.5% average in classes such as Accounting, Biology, Data Management, and Co-op placement.
Furthermore, in the month of May, Ethan was recognized once again for his academic excellence. This time, Ethan was named to the Ontario Hockey League Scholastic Team. While taking university level courses at Philip Pocock Catholic High School, Ethan obtained an overall average of 87.4% in Finance, Biology, Data Management, Advanced Functions, English, Physics, and a Co-op placement.
“Playing in the OHL while keeping up with school work and maintaining high grades can be a challenge,” Ethan states. “This teaches us to manage our time and be organized everyday while preparing for the future.”
This fall, Ethan was enrolled in physics and kinesiology during the first quadmester of the school year. In this, the school’s second quadmester, Ethan is currently enrolled in English and International Business.
